Production Logo

Alice and I brainstormed a lot of ideas for our production logo and came up with the following:
We decided on the lock and key picture because it is a good interpretation of our names.
We chose a picture from google and saved it, then opened it up in fireworks, we started by opening the picture and used the magic wand tool to delete the background. We then decided on  the font 'Bradley Hand ITC' because we thought it was a muture font and would fit in with our opening two minutes as it is a drama.

Main Task

Two minute opening plan
  • We decided on a drama
  • One actor
  • No dialouge
  • Maybe the character has a bad background
  • Locations such as; Beach, Town centre, House
Beggining scene
  • Fades to close up of face - looking out to the sea. Sound of seagulls/waves etc.
  • Incoming call, looks at phone, sees it is from her mum and declines it.
  • Alone during day.
  • Journey home.
  • Sees parents through window arguing.
  • Sneaks in.
  • Runs upstairs, slmas door.
I think the main thing that we need to establish in the two minute opening is to create the sense of loneliness, the character is feeling so we can draw the audience into the drama.

Trainspotting

Trainspotting PosterMade in 1996
Directed by Danny Boyle
Set in Edinburgh
Representation of youth
  • Introduces the characters
  • Established setting
  • Harsh comedy/British humour/Irony
  • Song - upbeat (comedy)
  • Names of characters (comic)
  • Mood of film I thought was manic/fun but in a negative way.
The lighting in the film is consistantly dull and bleak. A scene shows our main character in a dark room but he still has a shadow with makes him look evil/sinister.
  • Football is an improtant part of our culture
  • Symbol is an icon
  • Teen mums and smoking watching the football, this shows the economic decline.
  • Stereotypes - men playing the football, girls watching, probably would never be the other way around.

Storyboard Homework

The homework we were given was to watch 2 minutes of a film of our choice and we had to draw and explain all of the shots that were used.
I chose the film Inception to storyboard and I found that it helped me establish how many shots actaully go into 2 minutes of the film, and I feel that this could help me with my main task as it will help me add more detail to my own storyboard and focus a lot on the planning of it. So I feel this homework task was really helpful in the sense of how much work will need to be put into our task, to make it a half decent 2 minutes of a film.
